The project aims to explore the enormous potential of combining quantum computing and machine learning in the medical field. <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Challenges and objectives of the QML4Med project<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While machine learning is already widely used in medicine, quantum computing is still at the beginning of its development. Despite the availability of the first quantum computers, there are still significant challenges in terms of performance and accuracy. QML4Med addresses these challenges and investigates how quantum machine learning can be used in real medical applications with real data.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Focus on specific clinical use cases<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The project focuses on three specific clinical use cases:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"1\">\n<li>1. prediction of complications after blood transfusions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2. ECG diagnostics, e.g. detection of arrhythmias<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3. pathology detection on image data<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>By analyzing on both simulated and real quantum hardware, the achieved model accuracies as well as the influence of noise, quantum coding methods and the explainability of the models are investigated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Long-term vision and expected impact<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>QML4Med is intended to determine the direction of future research, development and innovation activities in the long term, strengthen cooperation with industry and research and make a significant contribution to Austria&#8217;s technological sovereignty in the field of quantum computing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This pioneering project is funded by the FFG
